This sunscreen has been my holy grail for a few years now, and honestly, it still holds a special place in my skincare stash.
In my experience, the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ PA++++ isn’t just another overhyped product. I genuinely think it deserves the love it gets.
From the first time I used it, I knew it was different. It feels like a lightweight moisturiser, gives my skin the dewiest glow (without any greasiness), and layers beautifully under makeup. No whitecast at all.
Minimalist Packaging
One thing I know for sure, Beauty of Joseon always nails the packaging. Their design is so simple and elegant, it actually makes me feel calm just looking at it.
This sunscreen comes in a soft, matte-finish tube that’s perfect for daily use and easy to throw in a bag without worry.

What’s Inside: Rice + Probiotics for Happy Skin
This formula combines 30% rice extract and grain-derived probiotics, which help to nourish, soothe, and support the skin barrier. It’s not just sun protection, it’s skincare too!
Key ingredients:
- Rice extract – brightening, hydrating, and packed with amino acids to support healthy skin.
- Probiotics – help strengthen the skin barrier and reduce inflammation.
- Niacinamide + Adenosine – for a boost of radiance and anti-aging support.
- Chemical UV filters – modern, non-irritating filters that provide high protection without that heavy sunscreen feel.
My Experience
Before having my baby, I wore this sunscreen almost every single day. It has a creamy, lightweight texture. It gave my skin the perfect glow, never shiny, just fresh and radiant. I got loads of compliments while using this product. I loved how it sat under makeup (no pilling or weird texture), and I never had any irritation or sensitivity from it.

But here’s where things changed a bit: postpartum skin.
After giving birth, I noticed this sunscreen started to sting a little when I applied it. It was such a surprise because it had always been so gentle on my skin. I hadn’t changed anything else in my routine, so I suspected it was down to my skin barrier being compromised which honestly makes sense.
Hormones, lack of sleep, and the general chaos of new motherhood will do that.
So for now, while I’m repairing my skin barrier, I’ve paused using it and switched to a gentler, more barrier-focused SPF. But I’m hopeful.
Once my skin feels fully healed, I’m planning to circle back to this sunscreen and see how it performs again. Pre-baby me swears by it.

Who I’d Recommend It For
If your skin is normal, combo, or dry—and not overly sensitive right now—this is a beautiful sunscreen to try. Especially if you’re looking for a dewy finish, no whitecast, and a formula that wears well under makeup.
If your skin barrier is feeling fragile, though, it might be worth pausing or patch testing first—just like I did.
The Beauty of Joseon Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen has been one of the most reliable, comfortable sunscreens I’ve ever used. It’s hydrating, glow-giving, and doesn’t mess with the rest of my routine.
While I’m currently on a break from it thanks to postpartum sensitivity, I still consider it a solid product and can’t wait to give it another go once my skin settles.
I’ll update this post when I try it again, but if you’re looking for a daily SPF that doubles as skincare and gives you that lit-from-within finish—this one’s worth the hype.
Have you experienced changes with your favourite products post-baby? Or do you have a gentle sunscreen that worked for you during barrier repair? I’d love to hear what worked for you!
